Banku is made using a combination of corn dough and cassava dough and is distinguished by its sour taste. It is one of the national dishes in Ghana and is also enjoyed by other parts of sub-Saharan Africa.
Traditionally, the preparation of banku requires a lot of time, patience and planning ahead. Alternatively, you don't have start from scratch and with these suggested simple steps and using Banku mix flour, you can have your Banku ready to eat in minutes.
1. Add Banku mix flour into a bowl and add water to the mix.
2. Mix thoroughly till it thins out and becomes smooth (Add some salt as needed)
3. Put a pot over medium fire, pour the mix into the pot and continue to mix.
4. Add some water and cover the pot for 5 minutes to allow the banku cook further. During this time, stir the banku intermittently until there are no more lumps.
Serve with okra soup or grilled tilapia and pepper sauce. ENOY!
